About the Journalism Degree Program

On Campus

Having dedicated, skilled journalists has never been more critical. With a Journalism degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, you will learn to report, write and produce news stories for a variety of media ranging from newspapers and magazines to television, radio and web.

Led by experienced, enthusiastic professors, the communications faculty will offer you guidance, knowledge, tools and skills required to succeed in today’s media environment, making sure you're fully prepared for both print and digital media careers. You will dive deep into fundamentals required for effective communication in an ever-changing world, such as how to tell a story in a compelling way, tools for connecting with readers, the value of accurate information-gathering, guidelines for ethical decision-making and the need for strong communication skills.

Interactive classroom spaces and practical experience are cornerstones of the journalism program, and students will have the opportunity to be involved in all levels of the reporting process working for the weekly Antelope newspaper.
